Ok, got rid of udp, oninit now accepts my sqlhosts, but when i run it it
(with oninit -iv) gets to "Onlining 2 IO vps" and then prints out A LOT of
"semctl: errno = 22"-sentences. Hmm, can you help me on that...?

All the versions of Informix I've installed have deep down in the
directory structure a file which tells you what kernel parameters need
altering and the correct values, and what the allowable protocols for
that port are. Have you found that document and implemented the kernel
changes if any?

What version of Linux are you using? I am using RedHat 6.1 and have not had to
update any of my kernel parameters. Just added my service as "sqlexec1 1901/tcp
" in my /etc/services file and added a corresponding entry in my
$INFORMIX/etc/sqlhosts file. Configuring the engine was a breeze after that.
Hope this helps.
Regards....
