The basic problem with cron is ensuring the Informix environment is set
correctly -- the default environment is (deliberately) minimal, and you
need to fix it before doing any work.
You could investigate SQLCMD from the IIUG software archive
(http://www.iiug.org) as an alternative to isql/dbaccess. I'm not
certain
that the version 5.x support is still OK, but I believe it should be.
I can't help on SCO specifically, but I've got Apache linking to
Informix
on my Solaris box via Perl/DBI/DBD::Informix with or without mod_perl,
and
via PHP (mod_php), and ...
