It sure is a shame that Informix won't support Linux... There missing out on a good market here.... You might try an idea I have been kicking around but haven't had the time to try... I was thinking that you might try is writing a program that using the informix API and RPC you could access the informix DB Engine from the Linux box. Then from there you could use a C-program or a write a TCL interface (or so on). Of course TCL/TK as a client to the informix DB would be a VERY nice X11 GUI solution. Come to think about it, there is an Informix TCL extention that if you coupled with TCL/DP (distributed processing) you could have a client/server solution that is very easily maintable and is very flexiable from the standpoint that the software you write can be used on any platform without the need to re-compile. Of course these ideas are the ranting of a mad man so take them with a grain of salt. *smile* Let me know if you try this path, I would like to know what the outcome to this idea is. If it works well I might go ahead and write the interface and release it into public domain so that other Linux'ers can use the informix DB Engine. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Jason Lambert Bass, Inc.
