Re: Problem With Outer Joins

What ODBC driver are you using. If you are using INTERSOLV it reports
SQL_OUTER_JOINS = "Y" which means the following:
"Y" = Yes. The data source supports two-table outer joins, and the driver
supports the ODBC outer join syntax except for nested outer joins. However,
columns on the left side of the comparison operator in the ON clause must
come from the left-hand table in the outer join, and columns on the right
side of the comparison operator must come from the right-hand table. (ODBC
1.0)
Only two table outer joins are allowed. The Informix syntax is
select a.x,b.x
from a, outer b
where a.x = b.x
ODBC has its own syntax for doing outer joins. I do not user PowerBuilder
but do make use of ODBC quite a bit. If you use the ODBC outer join syntax
than you may only reference two tables in your statement. If you can force
PowerBuilder to use the Informix syntax you can do what ever you like.
