Daniel You can prompt again when you start the program and ask for the userid/password and build the JDBC url from that. Alternatively you can store the userid/password in an encrypted file and decrypt the file from within your program and build your url from that. Dont know if the jdbc url can be specified without the userid and password (after all, they are optional parameters in the url), but you can try doing that too and launching the application from the userid who has access to the tables. It is of course possible to store the userid and password in, for instance, environment variables, or to hard code them into the program, but for security reasons, that is clearly not an option for us. Is it possible to logon to informix with JDBC using the currently logged on user. I.e. without having to send the userid and password (how)?
