Yeah >that's what I said, 'cache dynamic content'? What's the point? you can >never keep it fresh. but they claim they can do it.. and set up and >install in hrs w/no mods to existing infrastructure (again, allegedly). >I'm somewhat familiar with sqid but but this seems to go 'way beyond' >anything sqid can do. Caching does work, remember Informix buffers are effectively just a cache, filesystem caching works without a problem as does your memory susbsystem. You probably maintain record sets in your code, and again this is effectively a cached query. So the fact it's a cache is not a concern - it an be done. Informix's iSell uses the ATG/Dynamo caching system, and yes it does work and yes it's non-trivial keeping the cache synchronised. Typically a 20 second non-cached query will cache completely in about 60 seconds, that's the big downside, but the second time the query is executed you get a response time that is typically <10ms. The key to it is the cache maintenance and this is, as I said, non-trivial. Basically what happens is the cache control monitors what you've asked for and if you ask for the same thing twice then it will use the cache. If an underlying table used by your query changes then there needs to be a mechanism to invalidate the cache.
