The following questions :are targeted to a diverse group (technical, sales, etc).... :but if you can either confirm or provide answers to :any of the following I'd really appreciate it. :A little background - We are developing a new system that will : be fielded on a HP 715/100 workstation running HP-UX 10.10. : As I stated previously, we will use either the INFORMIX : OnLine 7.2 or SE as our database engine. We have several Windows : NT machines available that could be used to support this : effort. :Questions: :1.) Version 2.12 is the most current release of the NewEra : product for windows. Yes :2.) NewEra version 2.12 will "run" under Windows 3.11 but : NOT Windows NT. It will run on Windows 3.11 and Windows 95 (95 compatibility is the purpose of this release) and should run on Windows NT as well, although I haven't heard this spesifically. Informix should have no problems verifying this. :3.) NewEra version 3.xx will "run" under Windows NT. Compile and run. :4.) When will NewEra version 3.xx be released? Beta in September (or thereabout) and release in December (1996 AD) according to Informix. :5.) What version of the Microsoft Visual C++ product will NewEra : version 3.0 support? Is this the Visual C++ Standard Edition : or do you need the Enterprise Edition? Don't know. :6.) NewEra version 1.02 is the last version for Motif..... specifically : for development under HP-UX 10.10. Yes (at least some 1.x version). And from version 3.0 and up Informix's plan is that you do all development on Windows (95 or NT), but it is supposed to be possible to compile and run on Motif. How well this will work remains to be seen. :7.) What development tools are needed to use NewEra version 1.02? Since the : Windows version needs C++, I assume this is a requirement for the : Motif (HP-UX 10.10) version? Don't know. :8.) The result or product of any development "conducted" under the NewEra : for Windows can be ported to HP-UX and recompiled transparently. I haven't ever tried, but according to other posters here at c.d.i. with the current versions (1.x on Motif, 2.x on Windows) you have to make modifications to windows layout under Motif. :9.) NewEra version 1.02 & 2.12 can be upgraded, without cost, to NewEra : version 3.x when it is released. I don't know, but if you buy now there should be no problems making an agreement with Informix about this. You would have to ask them. :10.) Any comments, suggestions, recommendations concerning the NewERa : product would be *greatly* appreciated. No further comments right now except that there are large projects around that have used NewEra successfully, and others that are not that happy with it.
