What would be some of the major ramifications? :What would the cost be of the version we would go to (RDS/SE...) We did this upgrade a long time ago with no significant problems as far as I can remember. The 4GL code is upward compatible, so a simple recompile should do it. There is a small problem with the latest versions not accepting a different number of argument in the call to a function and the number you actually return using returning. If you have this situation you will have to change your code. Otherwise you will get runtime errors (no compile time errors unless the call and the function is in the same source module). Other than this I can remember no problems. The lates version would be 7.x of the SE engine or OnLine or OnLine for Workgroups if you need that, and 6.0x of 4GL. The x is dependent on you machine and OS. There is no reason to go to any lower versions. For the price you will have to ask Informix.
