An ontape -s to disk takes up 500Megbytes.
If this is so, why does onstat show we have used 49.8% of the disk
?????????
We have a 2 Gig Disk and Informix allocates all of 2 GIG :
ROOTNAME rootdbs # Root dbspace nameROOTPATH /users/informix/release/links/rootdbspace
ROOTOFFSET 0 # Offset of root dbspace into device
(Kbytes)
ROOTSIZE 2000000 # Size of root dbspace (Kbytes)MIRROR 0
PHYSDBS rootdbs # Location (dbspace) of physical log
PHYSFILE 60000 # Physical log file size (Kbytes)
LOGFILES 40 # Number of logical log files
LOGSIZE 5000 # Logical log size (Kbytes)
> onstat -aaddress chk/dbs offset size free bpages flags pathname
c46ab218 1 1 0 1000000 497653 PO-
/users/informix/release/links/rootdbspace

ontape backs up only thoise pages that have ANY data in them. You may have
a fragmented database with many pages substantially less than 100% full.
nonetheless, these will show up as "used2 by an onstat. Also, your logical
and physical logs may not be backed, depending upon their state.
