Thanks for the replies who pointed me to Bug #22151. Looks like I will have to wait until Siemens-Nixdorf releases their port of 5.03 and my institution is willing to upgrade. In the meantime, I have found a workaround: I don't create a synonym for the remote table and then a local view on that table, but rather create the view on the remote machine and then a synonym for that view on the local machine. Strangely enough, that works! Can anybody tell me if there are performance differences between the two approaches?
