I've not heard any postive things about 4GL development, in fact I *have* heard that all new development is going into NewEra. 4.13 (I think) is due in the New Year, but it's not much more that a bug release. Given that NewEra happily runs a lot of 4GL code (except user I/O), and that I was told last week by Peter Fletcher (the Informix Boss-Man for Australasia) that it will soon be supporting character based terminals, I can't really see why they would continue to develop 4GL. NewEra also looks bloody nice (at least at the coreographed demo I saw last week), so I don't know that I'd mourn the death of 4GL too long. --------------------------------------,------------------------------------- Kerry Sainsbury, kerry@kcbbs.gen.nz | THE INFORMIX FAQ Quanta Systems, Auckland, New Zealand | kcbbs.gen.nz:/informix/* | mathcs.emory.edu:/pub/informix/faq/* +64 9 377-4473 (work) 276-5546 (home) | quasar.ucar.edu:/?
