Shared Memory not Initialized for INFORMIXSERVER on Informix IDS 7.31
Hi.
I hace a problem trying to initialize the rootdbs in the creation of a
new instance. I type:
informix@BO:/informix/sq/dev$ /informix/bin/onspaces -c -d rootdbs -p
s1_rootdbs -o 0 -s 2097151
And appears the error:
shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 's1'
-Does anybody know which is the problem? Is it a problem of any
variable on the onconfig file? Y installed Informix on a new machine
and it is the first instance I try to create so it is possible that
there's something missing.

Which variable I have to modify on the onconfig file? Is it a kernel
parameter?
My Shared memory variables are:
SHMBASE 0xa000000 # Shared memory base address
SHMVIRTSIZE 65536 # initial virtual shared memory segment size
SHMADD 16384 # Size of new shared memory segments (Kbytes)
SHMTOTAL 0 # Total shared memory (Kbytes). 0=>u
looks like you need to increase the Semaphores available. YOU included
the shared memeory parameters below but you probably need to look at
the SEMXXX kernal parameters

might be interesting to see the whole of the online log file from when
you started tryingt to bring the engine up, not just the last few lines
