ontape restore problem

My last hope - I have filed a log with Informix and they are working the issue. But I need more information for my own peace of mind about how tape restores work or don't in my case. The system - is a server with Raid 5 - Pentium II ~133mhz, Windows NT4.0 SP 5 Tape - Archive Python 28388-XXX SCSI Informix - Version 7.31.TC2 A disk failed and the raid did not recover correctly - Therefore a January NT backup was restored. This works fine and the database comes up with January data. This tells me the tape drive works fine. However, when we do a ontape -r we get various errors depending on the TAPEDEV settings in Onconfig. CRITICAL ERROR: Error(22) reading tape device(\\\\.\\TAPE0) ERROR: Error(2) opening tape device(\\\\ntserv\\rst0) ERROR: Error(0) opening tape device(NTSERV:\\rst0) <- this was the settingwhen the archive tape was generated I get the same errors with archecker - it appears that Informix cannot see the tape device. Anybody got any clues? Hints, etc.... Any help appreciated Dave
