Probably not that helpful, but sounds like the good 'ole W2K registry permissions. It may be worth checking the MS knowledge base. Do you access using W2K admin rights? TJ Hello All I have being upgrading the hardware for my development system and have run into problems accessing the database from a client machine. The setup is as follows: 9.21.TC6R1-1, Merant OLE DB 2.1, Windows 2000 Professional. VB6 + SP4, Access 2000 on the "workstation" 2 DELL PowerEdge 600SC servers being run as peer-to-peer (one acting as the "server" and the other as the "workstation"). I have successfully imported my client's schema into my new "server". On the "workstation" I can successfully test the connection via DB Ping, ODBC and Merant's OLE DB. I can also view the data via Access which is using the ODBC connection. However (!), I cannot connect via DBACCESS or the VB program (which uses the Merant OLE DB connection via ADO). The error I get is -25596 "The INFORMIXSERVER value is not listed in the sqlhosts file or the Registry". I have checked the registry and have an entry in SQLHOSTS in both machines for my database server. Also the c:\\winnt\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services file which has an entry for the service (online). This has been rather frustrating as my original system works fine and I can see no difference except that I have changed the server name. BTW the original system is NT4 Server and Workstation. The new setup does not have W2K server but I do not think that is an issue here. I have been going round in circles now and would value some input. Kind Regards Ian Logan _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool emoticons - download MSN Messenger today! http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger
TJ I am logged on as Administrator (for now) and the Informix user has administrator rights. This is true for both machines.
