Resetting the value in a serial column

Is there a way to reset the serial count without removing everything from the table, dropping the serial column, and then re-defining the serial column? I like using the serial columns, but right now I am doing a lot of loading from ascii files where I need the primary key sequential for reference purposes. Since the loaded data does not come from the Informix unload utility, I sometimes have to massage the data to get it all into the tables. This is not always easy when using serial type columns. I'd really like an easy way to reset the values, but I haven't been able to find any. Thanks in advance, Kristen P.S.
