Re: updating informix

Ok, I've got another one! The program I mentioned in an earlier message, which puts informational messages in a small window at the bottom of the screen, contains the following statement let msg = "No ", m, "information found." where m is defined define m char(5) and it's value is either "more ", or else "". Under 4.00, this statement produced "No information found" when m was "", while under 4.10.UC1, it produces "No information found"; i.e. the null character variable is padded with blanks, whereas earlier it wasn't. Interestingly, my simpler programs just use: message "No ", msg, "information found." and this continues to work as intended. So the semantics of null strings seems to differ between assignments and message statements in 4.10.UC1 :-( Alan, this time I'll wait to hear if it's a known bug before submitting it formally, so please let me know ...
