I need to copy a database from an instance on one server to an instance on
another server. On server 1 I did an onunload of the database to a local
tapedrive. I am trying to do an onload on server 2 accessing the tape drive on
server 1.
Scenario 1
Server 1
onunload -s 0 -t /dev/rmt/0 database1
Server 2
onload -s 0 -t server1:/dev/rmt/0 -d defaultdbspace database2
Please mount tape and press Return to continue ...
Error reading from tape device, Error No. = 2
Scenario 2
Server1
onunload -s 0 -t /dev/rmt/0 database1
Set Informix parameters to point to instance on server 2
onload -s 0 -t /dev/rmt/0 -d defaultdbspace database 2
Please mount tape and press Return to continue ...
Error reading from tape device, Error No. = 2
Scenario 3 - just to test the unload
Server 1
onunload -s 0 -t /dev/rmt/0 database1
Server 1
onload -s 0 -t /dev/rmt/0 -d defaultdbspace newdatabase
Scenario 3 works. What am I doing wrong on the other two scenarios? I have
even tried setting the TAPEDEV on server 2 to server1:/dev/rmt/0 and then not
use the -t option in the onload on server 2, but I receive the same error
message. Any help would be appreciated.

Larry, Sounds like the tape device is not configured on server 2. have you tried 'ls -l /dev/rmt ' ? Mark
I am not sure what I need to do on server 2 to set up the remote tape drive. Do you have any commands that I need to run for Solaris?
