TechInfo Centre as was

Does anybody know how to get onto the old TechInfo Centre? I'm trying to get more details on a bug that Tsutomu Ogiwara posted. I followed the links, where I was prompted to log on using my old Techinfo ID, but this didn't work. I tried to log on using my IBM ID (the one that will act as the single user id for all your IBM website use ... except for all the other ones you need!), and that invited me to register for access by putting in a support or contract number. But that just popped up a message with "Thank you for Registering!", but no further instructions on what to do next. I'm completely stuck. All I want to do is search for details on a bug number. I don't even know who to turn to next. Perhaps I'll give Dave Williams a call and see if his Account Manager can get it sorted ... ;-) thanks Neil Truby t:01932 724027 Director m:07798 811708 Ardenta Limited e:neil.truby@ardenta.com
Yup, I can confirm the login I was using has been rendered impotent in the last few weeks as well. I can also confirm that when I last *could* access it it seemed to have mysteriously lost the ability to return the correct bugs for the keyword(s) compared to a year or so ago. How many more lose-lose situations do you think IBM can conspire to invent to drive its remaining customers away? Microsoft and Orifice must be p*ssing themselves. Actually, someone from UK support picked up my original query yesterday, which proves that someone at IBM *is* taking note of what we say. He has already had my userid re-enabled (not the personal one I'd been trying - these *do* seem to have gone forever - but one associated with a particular client). The Centre does contain details of the bug I was interested in. In the meantime I had raised a support call and a UK support technician had mailed me the bug details. In his covering note he said: "The product defect query page is being decommissioned next month, and you should be receiving notification about it. I was just able to access it via (quotes restricted URL) ..." So it seems that everything may be changing again soon. cheers Neil "Andy Kent" <andykent.bristol@virgin.net> wrote in message news:a3525a11.0401150314.49f38020@posting.google.com... > Yup, I can confirm the login I was using has been rendered impotent in > the last few weeks as well. > > I can also confirm that when I last *could* access it it seemed to > have mysteriously lost the ability to return the correct bugs for the > keyword(s) compared to a year or so ago. > > How many more lose-lose situations do you think IBM can conspire to > invent to drive its remaining customers away? Neil Truby described a depressingly familiar scenario... > So it seems that everything may be changing again soon. We keep running into this here, too. After spending nearly a year getting a new OEM contract, we have suddenly found that we can only get information and downloads through Passport Advantage. We were also told that the site technical contact would be able to set up the accounts for us. My name, Christopher Coleman, was submitted with the contract paperwork as site technical contact, but I never received any of the information. After calling several different people, I was told that our site primary contact (who is the comptroller) would have to set me up. I dragged him away from his desk to listen to the speaker phone as we went through this. Half way through the process, we are told, "It says here your site technical contact is Chris Coleman. He should have all the info." My cry of "That would be ME!" was probably audible at the call centre, which is a few miles from my office. Unfortunately, after all the effort and a couple more weeks dealing with various people, it turns out my site has two PPA contracts, one of which is useless. This is the one to which we have access. I was actually told to create a new account (which would be my thirteenth IBM login) and have the site technical contact add me to the other contract. Meanwhile, the comptroller and I have two different people contacting us about merging the contracts, each insisting there is only one person who can do this for us, each offering a different name. Andy Kent made a snarky remark: > How many more lose-lose situations do you think IBM can conspire to > invent to drive its remaining customers away? Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth to it. My company's comptroller, who has far more influence than a lowly database analyst, has decided that IBM is too hard to work with, so we should investigate the possiblity of moving to Orrible or Squeal Server. That's only 50% as useless as most people's PA contracts.
