If you hit the HP site, they backed out some of the features in a patch then added them back in 10.2 (Which works fine.) Tell your admin to rebuild the machine rather than do the upgrade migration from 9.x It will definately save some headaches and be much faster in the long run. (Me?Naw I don't do admin consulting do I? ;-) Yet I digress. Informix's reliance on UNIX to handle its conectivity works great when dealing with server to server connectivity issues. But, when using client/server connections, it falls apart rapidly. You need to modify your /etc/hosts , /etc/hosts.equiv to allow for connectivity. There is also an unconfirmed "hack"/"bug" that Informix is not reading the hosts.equiv file correctly. (I haven't had time to check it out so I can't confirm it.) Also a side note: At the ask *the* experts (Namely Johnathan ;-), a question regarding connectivity was asked, but deferred. I am under the impression that Informix will be addressing these later and that they will be posted at the IIUG site. [Yea!] Please understand I am not flaming informix, 'cause they have always been a database engine company. But a simple way around this problem is to switch your client server paradigm. Use some form of "web" based connectivity concept. Then the only entry to your host table will be the httpd server. HTH Sorry it isn't the best of news. If I am wrong, someone please correct me? This is not the only time I have seen this problem and I would like to have a simple solution. -Mikey -- #include <std_disclaimer.h> /* Mike Segel (MS385) */ #include <No_Spam.h> #ifdef OFFENDED_BY_CONTENT The author takes no responsibility for this post.
