"robert.vorbroker" <robert.vorbroker@MCI2000.com> offerred: (in response to "what happens if you hit the max # extents for a table?") :You need to find some downtime and diskspace. : :Unload the table to a file. :Drop and recreate the tables with new sizing and extent sizing. :Reload the table from a file. Alternatively, if you have enough free space in the dbspace, alter one of the existing indexes to cluster. This will recreate the table without the hassle of having to load from a Unix file (which is inherently slow due to the conversions needed going from ASCII to numeric, date, etc.). If there is enough contiguous free space in the dbspace, the extents will get concatenated into a single extent. To be safe, though, you should precede the clustering of the index with an ALTER TABLE that changes the next entent size to a value large enough to hold most of the current data in the table plus some space for growth.
