More fun at Emory U.
Posted in 1995
It has been an interesting couple of weeks here at good ol' Emory U., and it may get even more interesting. First the Math/CS department moved all of their systems. Then, the main computing center of campus moved all of their systems. Then, Math/CS went through a Solaris upgrade. That last bit caused some interesting problems with informix-list and its gateway to c.d.i, and rippled other problems back to rmy. The list hung several times, and I think maybe some duplicate postings went through the gateway. Not to be outdone, we have now decided to relocate rmy.emory.edu and several other departmental systems. This move will begin tomorrow morning and is scheduled to take half a day. However, some of the hardware is rather old (by computer standards) and has been sitting undisturbed for a long time. It all may come right back up after the move, but then it may not. :-( So, if you notice a drop-off of informix-list messages or gatewayed c.d.i articles that extends into the weekend, you'll know that fate did not smile upon us. If that does occur, you might want to hold off posting until you see traffic flowing normally again.
