time-out software

An open note to the 14 (so far) folks who have requested my time-out software: The tester program included with the package should be enough for you to determine whether it will work for you in your environment. I would very much like to hear from folks using this code on SCO and AIX systems, to verify that it works in those environments. I have no access to SCO or AIX, but that doesn't mean I don't want my code to work there! :-) A colleague on System V / Sinix helped me find a BSD dependency, which has been removed from the current version of the code.
