We did one on an RS6000 running AIX. This is a 1 way upgrade. You cannot revert to 32 bit (must do an export import and rebuild the instance. Anything 64Bit uses MORE memory, for just about everything (e.g SHMVIRTSIZE). There are plenty of people using 64 Bit Informix around. We are in the process of evaluating an upgrade from 7.30.UC7 to 7.31.FC6 Specifications: Sun E10000 24 processors 3 gigs of RAM 600 gig OLTP DB Has anyone done such an upgrade? Any serious problems with 64bit Informix? Anyone know what kind of market penetration 64bit Informix has? Are we going to be the only ones using this???? -FPL

I wonder if the 64-bit IDS-9.x supports 'Forced residency'. This feature is not supported in 32-bit IDS-9.20UC3 (as stated in the IDS_9.20 release note for AIX). Also, what do you really gain in going fro 32-bit to 64-bit ?
