sqlcode header file ?
Posted in 1993
Hi all, Does anyone have a header file of Informix's SQLCODES? It would be nice if the SQLCODE's which informix sets, and which we test for in our esql programs, could be coded with mneumonic values instead of numeric values. Just like the meaningful mneumonic SQLNOTFOUND is used instead of the meaningless value 100, so too could the mneumonic SQLCURSNOTOPEN be used instead of -259. The use of these mneumonics would have a tremendous benefit to all unix developers who write esql code. Not only does this make the code more readable, but would allow for new versions of informix to be released with minimal impact to the existing code (informix has been known to change these values). Looking into the future, the impact to existing applications would also be reduced if we were to changed DBMS vendors. For example, these mneumonics could be defined in files like "informix_codes.h" or "oracle_codes.h". ############################################################## David Nguyen Internet: davidn@geis.geis.com GE Information Services UUCP: uunet!ge!davidn 401 North Washington Street Voice: 1-301-340-5461 Rockville, MD 20850 USA ##############################################################
