Under Unix OS, you have to install first client products (as isql). You have to
end your setup procedure with Server product (except for the SDK which has to be
installed after server products) ! So when you installed isql, I think that it
overwritte a few files of your running instance. Although, since you installed
isql, your configuration files may not correspond to the reality of your
configuration. I got this problem a few weeks ago while installing ISQL on a
server running an instance.

The only solution that the INFORMIX support gave me is to resintall your
INFORMIX products. You may not have lost data cause it doesn't modify your own
Onconfig File and chunks.
