New version of utils2_ak
Posted in 2000
I have uploaded to the IIUG Software Repository a new version of my package utils2_ak. This release, dated today, contains new versions of dostats and myschema with significant new features and some bug fixes to dostats affecting SE servers. The new upload hould be available in a day or so, I keep everyone apprised. Significant enhancements include: dostats ------- o New -v flag that reports all explicit and inferred options describing dostats' operation. o New -S flag which permits one to use dostats on a shared memory connection (I know it's about time). However -S precludes running dostats against all databases or a database name mask w/wildcards. o Fixed auto OL5 detection to not mistakenly identify SE as OL5 when -s is specified. o Fixed a minor bug in SE support. myschema -------- o New -e option to specify adjustment factor to apply to the initial EXTENT SIZE, like the -n for NEXT SIZE. o New -m flag to specify that the actual number of used pages be used for EXTENT SIZE (optionally adjusted by -e) rather than the current EXTENT SIZE when the used pages is less than current. Previously myschema just generated a warning when it found shrunken tables. o Now uses the stored next serial number when available, instead of querying the max value all the time. o Environment variable FILLFACTOR, if >0, now causes FILLFACTOR clauses to be added to all indexes using the specified value. o New code ensures that all calculated EXTENT and NEXT sizes are valid (ie >= 8). The interplay of -n, -e, -a, and -m are very interesting and powerful. You now have very complete and predictable control over the generated extent values. Art S. Kagel
