Most recent versions of Informix on Solaris request that the following line be placed in /etc/system: set enable_sm_wa = 1 I assume this has something to do with shared memory, but I'm unable to find any documentation as to what it does and why Informix wants/needs it to be set. Anyone have any ideas? TIA, - TJG

Not needed since 2.5.1 so just ignore it, or depending on your boot monitoring remove it so it doesn't generate warnings -- Paul Watson # WF Software Ltd # You are only young once Tel: +44 1436 674729 # but you can be immature Fax: +44 1436 678693 # for ever www.wfsoftware.com #
Hi, If you are running Informix on a Sun4m machine running Sol2.3, you might need to add the following line: set enable_sm_wa=1 to the /etc/system file. You need to add this ONLY if the system is using patch 101318-31 or later AND is running 101406-01 patches. If the system is running Sol2.4 or on a Sun4d, you DO NOT need to add this parameter to the /etc/system file. df In article <39c8ecf8$1_2@news2.one.net>, Thomas J.
