You need the ISAM code to diagnose further, but, usually this is caused by a locked row. Add "SET LOCK MODE TO WAIT <n>" to your program where <n> is some small number of seconds to wait for transitory locks to clear. If locks take longer than say 5 seconds to clear then some application is poorly designed and is holding locks too long. Art S. Kagel
