Explanation for Informix generated (temporary) files

Greetings, A client of ours running Universal Server (9.14) on a SUN machine with Solaris 2.6 is complaining that the server fills his /tmp partition - causing the computer to crash - with the following files (partial list supplied): -rw------- 1 root informix 40960 Nov 4 15:09 bui0011380_004 -rw------- 1 root informix 8192 Nov 4 15:04 pro0011365_009 There are many of these files in /tmp. All file names begin with either 'bui' or 'pro' but the numbers are different. As I have no access to the client's machine, I can't do much investigation - I only have the list of files that he sent me by eMail. My questions are: 1. What are these files? 2. What are they used for? 3. Who creates them and when? 4. What can I do to prevent /tmp from filling up? Many thanks (in advance) for any assistance received. I don't know of any other time that informix would use files in /tmp other than if it ran out of space to sort in temp dbspaces. -- # unrm / ksh: unrm: not found # man cpio Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
