Historical query - when was casting included in ISQL

Apropos of a colleague being surprised to find SELECT some_datetime_year_to_second_field::DATE FROM a_table worked in ISQL V7.20 against a V9.30 database - does anyone recall when it was introduced to the ISQL product line? I can't find anything in the Guide To SQL V7.20 range of manuals in the online pubs. TIA
