A user on IDS 7.31 (Solaris) couldn't add a chunk: Informix complained the chunk must be owned by informix:informix, even though the symlink /export/home1/informix/c0t5s3dat7 showed informix ownership. Respondents (Celso, Jack Parker, Ernie Knox, Art Kagel) pointed out that the underlying raw device, /dev/rdsk/c0t5d0s3, must also be owned informix:informix with 0660 permissions. Permissions on the link are correct, but you also have to set the ownerships and permissions on the underlying device (/dev/rdsk/c0t5d0s3) which should be informix:informix and 0660.
