Re: How to Identify
Posted in 2000
Onstat -g glo will print out the pids of all of the VPs belonging to the
instance pointed to by INFORMIXSERVER. Onstat -g seg will tell you the
id's and keys of the shared memory segments so you can remove them manually
if needed. Also the shared memory segments will be keyed to 0x525648??
plus 0x10000 time the SERVERNUM from the ONCONFIG file where '??' represents
small HEX integers identifying the sequential segment number starting with
0x01. In case onstat does not work. HOWEVER, it is always best to try
onmode -ky BEFORE killing the engine manually. Note, you can use ipcs -ato see the creator of the shared memory segments which will be the master
oninit which is the progess group leader for all of the oninit processes
belonging to that instance. You can then list them all with:
ps -fg $master_pid
and you can kill them all with:
kill -9 -master_pid (that is minus one times the master oninit's pid).
