Problem With PowerBuilder App Retrieving Informix Data

I'm currently working on a PB 5.0.04 app running against an Informix-SE 7.1 db, connecting through PB's native driver. I've developed previous apps running against a MS-SQL Server 6.5 back-end. It appears to me that when I issue a Retrieve() command against the Informix back-end, the front-end does not stop and wait for the result set to return. Instead it carries on with the script and allows the user to continue to interact with the app (including allowing the user to reissue the Retrieve() request, thus causing a db error in the front end as the two retrievals collide.) It appears that PB is processing the Retrieve() requests asynchronously, which is not my intention. I want the front-end to wait until it gets the result set back before it continues. SQL Server appears to work this way by default (is this assumption correct?) The event containing the Retrieve() is a user-defined event, TRIGGERed from ItemChanged on a dw. Is there a db connection parm that needs to be specified for Informix back-ends to tell it (or Powerbuilder) to work synchronously? Is there another explanation for all of this? Hopefully there's someone with experience joining these two platforms together. Thanks in advance: Bryan Stasiuk Senior Systems Analyst Weldwood of Canada Ltd...
