We have customer that runs a SE-7.23-Server on a Siemens RM600-420 (Reliant UNIX 5) who has severe performance problems. There are about 10 users with up to 3 connections from NT-Workstations. 'The database design does not include relationships but the applications use a lot of joins, longer transactions and a lot of read access. In our company we also run a SE 7.23 on Linux (old Pentium Pro 200!!) and an Online Server 7.31 on NT as our development environment. Both DBs run fine, although the number of UNIX-system calls on our LINUX-system is much higher than on the customers Siemens-system for a special action, most database operations take much more time on the customer's system (factor 5-20!!!). We didn't find any information on the web about SE-limitations or tuning. Maybe you know a source or have your own experiences concerning SE performance and limitations. When does a SE database make sense? Thanks Axel Weitermann topsystem GmbH
