RE: Informix and NOAGE

John Priority ageing is an issue with 7.1x ODS engines. We have a client with = a heavily loaded system for whom the ageing became apparent and turning = ageing off at the Unix level actually helped performance. The command to = do this at the Unix level is rtprio. In the 7.14 (HP-UX 10.01) release notes it mentions however that: "The process NO AGING that allows a cpu vp to stay at original priority = is supported on this port." I haven't actually tried it out because the client is happy with the = performance gain by turning off performance gain at the Unix level. If = you are going to do some experimenting I will be interested in your = results. What role does HPUX priority aging play in the 7.1x world? We reboot = our=20 system once a week. Is priority aging an issue? 2. Would any performance gains be worth finding a way to place the = ONINIT=20 processes in real-time priority? Is this even possible? Just trying to squeeze all the performance I can out of the system. = Here's the=20 config: HP K200 class (4 processors) HPUX 10.01 Informix 7.13.UC1 Thanks in advance John Carlson Informix DBA / System Analyst WH Smith Inc.
