HDR Question

Officially, you need identical engines and operating systems to use HDR. However, during an upgrade, we tested and used HDR between identical 7.31 versions with the primary on solaris 8 and the secondary on solaris 7. Has anyone tried using HDR between 9.40 versions, one on solaris 9 and the other on solaris 8? I don't have an environment to test this before we go out to a client site and am wondering if this has worked for anyone or if there are known issues. Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, informix recommendation is to keep identical engines , OS and hardware, and same onconfig parameters. I think you need identical OS because you need the same binaries on both sides, that ´s why it worked for you under solaris 8 and 7. Binaries are the same, so if you install the same version should work but if this environment is going to be a production instance I would recommend you install the same OS, why? for example if you call tech support the first that they would say is that you have different OS and it is unsupported......... hope this helps esteban.- At 05:18 p.m. 14/05/2004 -0400, STEVE GANSER wrote: >Officially, you need identical engines and operating systems to use HDR. >However, during an upgrade, we tested and used HDR between identical 7.31 >versions with the primary on solaris 8 and the secondary on solaris 7. > >Has anyone tried using HDR between 9.40 versions, one on solaris 9 and the >other on solaris 8? I believe the formal requirement is that the same binary is used on both machines - hence the interworking. You'd probably be technically unsupported (ask Tech Support first), but it would probably work. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@us.ibm.com) STSM, Informix Database Engineering, IBM Data Management 4100 Bohannon Drive, Menlo Park, CA 94025 Tel: +1 650-926-6921 Tie-Line: 630-6921 "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!" forum.subscriber@iiug.org wrote on 05/14/2004 02:18:12 PM: > Officially, you need identical engines and operating systems to use > HDR.
