ANNOUNCES CD'ROM BUNDLING WITH BRIO TECHNOLOGY BURLINGTON, MA, September 25, 1995 '' TechGnosis, Inc., today announced a bundling agreement with Brio Technology, under which Brio will include TechGnosis SequeLink database middleware software on CD'ROM with BrioQuery, a multi'dimensional analysis and data access product for data warehouses. By bundling SequeLink with BrioQuery, customers have complete, out'of'the'box connectivity to the database of their choice. SequeLink provides a single way to connect to any back'end database. BrioQuery users can take advantage of Brioquery's direct connection to SequeLink, or they can use BrioQuery's ODBC interface to connect to the SequeLink ODBC driver. TechGnosis provides a SequeLink ODBC driver for the Macintosh and Windows platforms, so SequeLink ties in well with Brio's cross'platform strategy. "Our six year partnership with Brio Technology has enabled many Brio users to easily connect to a variety of data sources," said Eric Egertson, director of new business development, TechGnosis, Inc. "We look forward to working with Brio to enable links to data warehouses from Windows, Macintosh and UNIX clients." "Shipping SequeLink with BrioQuery provides our customers with database', network', and architecture'independent connections to data, which is a requirement for robust data warehousing applications," said Katherine Edholm, executive vice president for products and marketing at Brio Technology. "We are confident that our customers will benefit from increased productivity and access to corporate data by using the leading database middleware solution." BrioQuery 3.5 is available in three configurations: Designer, Navigator and Explorer. BrioQuery Designer(TM) enables data managers to create and deploy Brio data models. These data models are complete, protected user query environments including required limits, pre'defined joins, database help and meta data access. BrioQuery Navigator(TM) allows users to start constructing queries from Brio data models rather than directly from database tables. Navigator is the ideal end'user query tool when it is necessary to prepare a user'friendly view of the database structure, or where central control over query configuration and usage is desired. BrioQuery Explorer(TM) is ideal for organization that have well'structured data sources and do not need to impose layers between users and data. Using both personal data models, derived directly from structural information contained in most databases, and common data models, BrioQuery Explorer is the single'product query solution for individual who require access both to native databases and to pre'built data models. The SequeLink CD'ROM is included with BrioQuery Designer starting immediately. BrioQuery customers can call TechGnosis US for an activation key for SequeLink connections for two'concurrent users. The key is priced at $495 and includes a 30'day money'back guarantee. This special offer applies in the U.S. only. BrioQuery users outside of the U.S. can contact their local TechGnosis sales office for applicable pricing. SequeLink is client/server database middleware that provides truly open and flexible connectivity to multi'vendor client/server computing environments through a standard, high'performance SQL interface. It allows clients to connect to any database server using any existing networks and provides direct access to data, eliminating the need for expensive and low'performing gateways.
