I know there are reasons why this may not be an option, but if you CAN turn it off, you'll have no long transaction problem. Yes. Point you tape device to /dev/null and ontape -s -L -N
database_name turns you database into a non-logged db. Swap the N for U
to get unbuffered logging, B for buffered logging or A for ANSI logging.

Very cool. I've been over in XPS too long. The high-performance loader
does this automagically... and there's no ontape for XPS just <gasp> onfubar...
