Limiting # rows returned by SQL query - during testing

Hi, everyone. In Oracle, I remember being able to limit the number of rows returned by a query (to speed up testing/debugging of SQL scripts, for example), but I don't remember how it was done. I haven't touched Oracle for quite awhile now... :) In INFORMIX, I've always used 'where table.rowid < NNN'. Now, I'm training a new user in relational tech, SQL, ACE, etc. All the ugly programmer-kinds of things... I thought I'd ask: is 'rowid' the best way to do this? Since 'rowid' is not a synthetic artifact 'created' by the SQL process, if you will, I see the possibility of having rowids that don't start with 1. Email to me, or post to the group. Either way, I'll see it. (I didn't find this in the FAQ anywhere, using 'limit' as a search key. Is it there in some other 'context'?). Thanx, bgh --- -- William G.
