INFORMIX 3.30 ODBC Driver on Windows NT Client

We have just encounter a problem where the Informix 3.30 ODBC driver causes invalid SQL to passed to IDS 7.31.UC3-1 server. Our application is written in MS Access 97. The query involves outer joins. The Informix 3.30 driver tries to pass ANSI join syntax, but is not successful in doing so. The same query run successfully using the Intersolv 3.11 driver, which was also packaged with Informix Connect 2.30 and Informix SDK 2.30. However, the Intersolv driver is generating the older Informix outer join syntax. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, do you have a solution which does not involve switching to the Intersolv or other non-Informix ODBC driver.
