Re: Kansas City, gateway to .....
Answered: grey (solid confidence) — Entirely off-topic conference-travel banter (flights to the IIUG conference in Kansas City); no Informix technical content.

Not a technical thread: it's a light-hearted grumble about the IIUG Conference being held in Kansas City and how awkward/expensive it is to reach from the UK. Neil Truby (near Heathrow) complains that Expedia only offers connections via Washington, Newark, Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas. Paul Watson says it's roughly 14 hours door to door and around $600 on Continental (cheaper than his trip to Vienna); Ian Gumby suggests connecting through Chicago and switching airlines domestically, while Paul warns O'Hare immigration is best avoided. The rest is banter, with no real resolution.

Neil it should be 14 (ish) hours door to door unless you've moved house :-). I normally fly Continental and the flights are typical $600 - it cost me more to fly to Vienna for the European conference Cheers Paul Neil Truby wrote: > Has anyone involved in choosing Kansas City as the venue for the IIUG > Conferene ever tried to travel there from "international"? > > I'll need to leave in early March to get there on time, having first > arranged a mortgage to pay for the air-fare ... ;-) > >
No, I haven't moved house - no money - and still live near Heathrow. I've looked on Expedia and am offered changes in Washington, Newark, Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas. None looks very close to Kansas! I think Continental fly 767s - never fly Transatlantic in a plane with only 2 engines ;-) regards Neil "Paul Watson" <paul@oninit.com> wrote in message news:476DEF0F.6030703@oninit.com... > Neil > > it should be 14 (ish) hours door to door unless you've moved house :-). Chicago is the closest. You may want to fly in and possibly switch airlines on the US leg of your trip. > From: neil.truby@ardenta.com> Subject: Re: Kansas City, gateway to .....> Date: Sun, 23 Dec 2007 14:00:16 +0000> To: informix-list@iiug.org> > No, I haven't moved house - no money - and still live near Heathrow.> > I've looked on Expedia and am offered changes in Washington, Newark, > Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas. Could it be because somehow your name got put on a certain watch list? :-) Next time just tell them that you're alergic to latex and they might skip the cavity search. :-P Don't blame me, I think Stuart turned you in. Something about Cuban cigars? ;-) (JUST KIDDING!) -G _________________________________________________________________ i’m is proud to present Cause Effect, a series about real people making a difference. http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/MTV/?source=text_Cause_Effect
