RE: Migration from 7.31 to 9.40

It is better idea to 1. Drop the big detached indexes before upgrade of IDS. 2. Add some additional chunks to your Temp Dbspaces (This is required for sorting when you recreate the index after IDS upgrade). 3. Go for the upgrade of IDS 4. Run your oncheck (You will save lot of time from the oncheck as the big indexes are not there) 5. Recreate the indexes 6. Run the update statistics FYI : In my recent upgrade from 9.21UC3 to 9.40UC5 we used the above method. One of my table contains 390 Million rows and we save a considerable time on the Oncheck by dropping the big Indexes before upgrade and recreating after the upgrade. Also don't forget to run update statistics. My main concern is just the space. I will be upgrading from 7.31 to 10 soon, if all goes as planned. Is the extra space only because of the detached indexes, or are there other changes that will also increase the space used ?
