Oncheck -pt
Posted in 2016
A user on IDS 11.70.FC8 (AIX 6.1) saw a daily assert warning at 07:00 ('pthdrpage:ptalloc:bad partn page', rspartn.c, TBLSpace 3149194) telling him to run oncheck -pt, which then failed with 'ISAM record not found / Error opening TblSpace'. The warning came from a CDRStop thread, from a script that stops replication, runs dbexport and restarts CDR. Art suggested restoring from archive; Fernando advised opening a PMR; Madison Pruet suspected syscdr inconsistency rather than whole-server corruption and asked for the stack trace. The poster later found related replicate errors in the log, recreated those replicates, and the tblspace error disappeared before IBM responded.

Hi,
I see a warning in log saying
Run oncheck -pr 3149194
I rub the command, and get
an Isam record not found
Error opening TblSpace for reading.
How can I resolve this ?
Thanks in advance.

Restore the server from a recent archive. Your server is hosed. Or at least
whatever table or index that was is hosed.

Hi, I Answered after the questions.
1- Version? It{s an IBM Unix Server AIX 6.1. With Informix1170fc8.
2- Show the complete messages in online.log
07:00:00 Assert Warning: pthdrpage:ptalloc:bad partn page
07:00:00 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC8GE
07:00:00 Who: Session(46862, informix@PRIMARIO, 0, 700000040602408)
Thread(51344, CDRStop, 7000000405d3350, 1)
File: rspartn.c Line: 8385
07:00:00 Results: Cannot use TBLSpace page for TBLSpace 3149194
07:00:00 Action: Run 'oncheck -pt 3149194'
I see this error everry day at the same hour 7:00:00. At this hour I
execute an script
than stop a replicación, then executes a dbexport and restart the
replicación with cdr start command.
I thing the error ocurrs when the cdr stop command is executed.
3- Were you running a defrag on the a partition?
No I´m not running any defrag, I only running the script.
Thanks in advance.

You should open a PMR... Just curious, the partnum is always the same?

I think that I asked to see the stack trace that was generated as described in
the assert warning. I no longer have access to code as I am retired, but I do
remember quite a bit about the function names and their purpose. I might be
able to help a bit, but need to get access to the stack when the assert
warning was generated. I'm not sure why it would be occurring during cdr stop
because cdr stop is mainly closing stuff and any corruption would have been
detected at server startup.
By the way, I'm pretty sure that the stack trace would be required by any PMR
as well.
I'm not sure that your total system is corrupt, but it may be that the syscdr
database has some inconsistency. I'll be looking forward for your reply with
the stack trace.

Is it possible that you tried to run dbexport/dbimport on the syscdr database?

Hi,
I see, that in the log file, after this error, was another errors with
replicates. I recreate this replicates
and the error of the TBLSpace always disappared.
Also I had asking for a PRM, but before IBM contacted me, the problem was
resolved.
Thanks.
