Want pipe delimiters to STDOUT

I am using an informix database on a remote machine to feed streams of text to post-processing code on the local machine. The scheme works well, and I am trying to improve the efficiency of the code. I am looking for some ISQL code that will simply print values (WITHOUT HEADINGS), pipe delimited, and terminated with a newline to STDOUT. I don't want the three blank lines at the top of the stream either. In other words, I want just pure data, with no labels or formatting. I've been using this, but I wince every time I look at it: OUTPUT TO PIPE "sed 1,3d" WITHOUT HEADINGS SELECT 'TABLENAME', *, 'EOR' FROM TABLENAME And I receive as output: TABLENAME 0001-01-01 00:00:00 1 the next field is empty EOR I am looking for something it the same spirit with output like this: TABLENAME|0001-01-01 00:00:00|1|the next field is empty||EOR And remember, I don't want to write to a file. If some other informix tool would work better, let me know; it's probably around here somewhere. Thanks, William Warner billw@airone.claircom.com
