Hi all, I accidentally dropped Informix DBspace before removing database on it. When I tried to drop these databases now, following messages was shown. "211:Cannot read system catalog(systables) 103:ISAM error:illegal key descriptor(too many parts or too long" How can i recover it? Thanks for help. I also had an over-enthusiastic developer remove a cooked chunk on a
development box and we were unable to drop the database.
We logged this with Informix Tech Support and the only way is to re-create
the chunk then recover the whole instance from a backup (assuming you have
one) and then drop the database.
If you don't have a backup (like in our case) then you have to onunload or
dbexport all the other databases, re-initialise the instance and onload or
dbimport the databases back.
Sorry - I know it's a pain.
