Re: Cluster index?

Nguyen Informix supports clustered index. AFAIK, all versions support it. The primary key is not clusterd by default and you cannot have more than one clustered index per table. A clustered index basically sorts the table in the order specified by the clustered index. Thats why you dont have 2 clustered indexes per table. Also, because it needs to be physically resorted, you would need to re-build the clustered index periodically, so its not really suitable for volatile tables. Its good for reasonably static tables, such as lookup tables, since the lookup is quicker using a clustered table. Hi there, I have a question about clustered index Please see if you can help. If Informix doesn't support clustered index than please ignore all of the below: Is cluster index only available on certain version or any version of Informix? Does the primary key have a clustered index by defaut? Can I have more than one clustered indexes in a table? Thanks in advance for you help. Tung Nguyen
