ontape -a and STDIO

I know that I can set TAPDEV to STDIO and then control where the archive goes
by using redirection. Can the same be done with LTAPEDEV and the logical log
backups? It seems that the 'ontape -a' and 'ontape -c' commands always prompts
with "Please mount tape 1 on STDIO and press Return to continue ...".
Obviously, that doesn't work very well if one is redirecting stdout, as you
never get to respond to the prompt.
The only to get ontape to not prompt for a tape mount is to use the -d
option and direct the archive to a directory or filesystem instead of to a
file or STDIO. So if you have a filesystem called /informix_logback you
would either set LTAPEDEV to /informix_logback or run: ontape -a -t
/informix_logback -d
Then ontape will manage the filenames for you.
