CORRUPT TABLE 4.0???

We are running on some our older sites informix 4.0 with AIX 3.2.3 and higher and have are experiencing the following problem: When running some reports we are getting some control chars printing out where we never had problems before. We have not changed anything on these machines for sometime. We found we are also experiencing the same problem inhouse in three separate databases running 4.0 also. If I unload the table through isql "unload to .. select * from ", the file looks fine but if we build a form through isql formbuild, and dump the data in an unload format, or run through debug and print the variable, we get the following: (We tried to drop and recreate the table, drop and recreate the database ,etc. but nothing worked. We then tried to add just another table to the database, add data and the same problem occurs. It seems now, that any additional table added, the data now has control characters, but only if selected through a report, or unloaded through "output" unload function of isql formbuild.) This isn't happening to every table, just a select few we have found and any additional ones we add. One of the tables is as follows: I N F O F O R T A B L E sy_dfdesc_19 Index name Owner Type Cluster Columns sy_idx19_01 dbadmin unique No cnt_nbr pyrl_typ_cde d_f_ind d_f_cde Column name Type Nulls cnt_nbr char(8) yes pyrl_typ_cde char(1) yes d_f_ind char(1) yes indiv_ind char(1) yes d_f_cde char(2) yes d_f_desc char(30) yes d_f_abbrev char(8) yes **************************************************************************** 7139.001 |C ^GPP^P ^GQ|D ^GPP^P ^GQ0|N ^GPP^P ^GQ0p| 31 |CREDIT UNION ^GPP^P ^GQ|CREDIT ^GPP^P ^GQ| 7139.001 |C ^GPP^P ^GQ|D ^GPP^P ^GQ0|N ^GPP^P ^GQ0p| 33 |DUES ^GPP^P ^GQ0|DUES ^GPP^P ^GQ0| Any help would be greatly appreciated.
