HELP !!! Too many Connections to Informix Server !!!
Posted in 2000
Hi people,
we are using IIF 2000 (IDS 9.20.UC1-1 with WebDataBlade 4.00UC1) on a
Linux server (RedHat 6.1, glibc2.1, kernel 2.2.12-20smp on an Intel
Pentium III biprocessor, 512MB ram) with Apache 1.3.12 installed in
DSO mode.
We have been developing a web application using webdriver (like a
dynamic library and as an apache module) and we are going to "release
it" on our website.
We have encountered a very strange thing. We have noticed we always
have a huge number of TCP connections to the Informix Database server.
And we have reasons to think they are more than they should be,
because the application is still in a test phase and only 1 (yes one)
operator is actually working on it (and, unfortunately, not very
hard).
That's our situation: about 150 TCP connections still active with more
or less 50 'oninit' processes.
And that's the instant situation (with no real working connection
active to Informix): 9 'oninit' processes and 40 TCP connections from
different ports.
That sucks ...
My question is this: is this a typical situation? Should I worry about
this or not? If yes (or even if no), are there any configuration
options or parameters I can set in order to resolve it?
Indeed I find my system is becoming quite slow ...
Well, thanks a lot and Ciao
