problem using onspaces to recover chunks on EMC
Posted in 2000
It seems that I can't use onspaces to recover down chunks ( after disk
failure ) after relinking the chunk and moving it to EMC Symmetrix 3700
array using the power devices provided by power path. The disks are
under RAID-1 at the array level.
After a hard drive failure ( Sun SSA disk ) I did the following steps
to move the chunks over to an EMC array
1. brought down any chunks that hadn't already been marked down
onspaces -s pos_trans -p /u/inflinks/acct/pos_trans_29 -o 0 -D
2. removed old links and relinked to new chunk on EMC disk
rm /u/inflinks/acct/pos_trans_29
ln -s /dev/rdsk/emcpower217d /u/inflinks/acct/pos_trans_29
3. tried to bring chunk back up using onspaces and it returns
that "The chunk specified does not exist."
onspaces -s pos_trans -p /u/inflinks/acct/pos_trans_29 -o 0 -O The chunk specified does not exist.
4. Tried using onmonitor to recover chunk and that did work as
expected
One funny thing is that once a chunk is recovered using onmonitor on
the EMC array I can bring it down and back up using the above onspaces
commands as expected. Has anyone seen this before and if so is there a
work around? I'm hoping there is just something simple that I have
overlooked. I have a case open with Informix, but that hasn't turned up
anything useful yet. My next step is to open a case with EMC on this,
but I haven't done this yet.
Engine Version: 7.31.UC5
OS: Solaris 2.6
EMC Array: Model 3700 ( disks using RAID-1 )
